I am a contemporary Impressionist, painting in oils.

Painting outdoors has given me an appreciation of colors and has disciplined me to simplify. To simplify the shadows into shapes, stay centered on the “reason I am painting today”, concentrate on my focal point and keep the rest unfocused. I keep a limited palette of 4 colors outdoors for my studies and expand in the studio.

The only place my paintings approach realism is around the focal point. I try to transfer my feelings of the day to my paint, layering in a painterly way and mixing directly on the canvas. I don’t set out to make a commentary with my paintings, but hope that the viewer will see something familiar that they can take away with them.

Simply put, the day is important and I want you to feel it.
